Check Out The Best Golf Courses in Connecticut!

Here at Naturally Green, we employ some avid, terrible golfers. But just because we have an inflated handicap doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate a good course! (Not to mention those beautiful greens.)

Here are some of our favorite courses around Connecticut, in no particular order.

Lake of Isles A good golf course can make or break your golf trip!

Lake of Isles, located in southeastern Connecticut, has two courses – the North Course and South Course. Though the South Course is for members only, the beautiful North Course is available for the public to enjoy.

The North Course, which opened in May 2005, offers some challenging par 4’s but has smooth greens and flat tee boxes. The 900-acre resort is centered around a 90-acre lake – which you will be required to shoot over. Nice elevation changes and island greens keep the course from getting stale, and there are indoor and outdoor practice facilities to shake off the rust before you tee off.

Fox Hopyard

In East Haddam, not too far from the Connecticut Shore, Fox Hopyard offers plenty of variety for those who want to change it up. 18 holes spread over 530 are crafted around a dense forest, with vibrant open greens and containing rock outcroppings and stone walls to navigate around. It truly offers a plethora of settings.

Watch out for Hole 7, which is one of the harder ones on the front nine. It’s a par four that won’t forgive a poor drive. Pull left and you’ll be putting it in the woods or the drink, depending on how far you get. Push too far right and you’re in the bunker.

Great River

Golfing is a great spring activity.

Along the Housatonic River, this 18-hole course is great no matter what skill level you are (lucky for us). But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t challenging holes. Take the first hole, for example. It looks innocent enough – a 200-yard par 3. But it’s a raised green that sits behind a creek and is surrounded by sand.

The front nine takes you across a few wooden bridges at it weaves you through the woods, but the back nine opens up a little and includes a beautiful par 3 that’s set against a 30-foot waterfall.

Keep Hold of Those Clubs

Get out and enjoy the beautiful courses that Connecticut has to offer us. And remember that those greens get out in the summer, so keep a cool head.
